Discover new features of Avtek TouchScreen monitors
The internet software update feature for interactive monitors, introduced with the TouchScreen 5 series, has opened up entirely new possibilities in monitor development.
Previously, new features were mainly introduced during the production of subsequent product batches; monitors already installed at client locations could, of course, be updated manually, but the procedure discouraged some users.
Thanks to internet updates, users no longer have to worry about this. The monitor automatically detects if a newer software version is available, downloads it in the background, and then displays a message informing about the available update to install. If it cannot be performed at a given moment, for example, during a lesson or meeting, it can easily be revisited later.
The new features introduced since the beginning of the TouchScreen 5 series models include both minor changes to aid daily use and important new tools. Updates have been developed based on our experience and the experience of our Sales Partners and users. All have been implemented to facilitate daily work on Avtek TouchScreen interactive monitors.
Importantly, the internet update does not affect installed applications or files stored on the monitor.
To make it easier to learn about and get acquainted with the new features, we have prepared video materials for each one.

Facilitations:
Manual update check
Depending on the monitor’s software version, the first update may require a manual check for availability. Here too, you can return if the message appeared when it couldn’t be performed, e.g., during a lesson or meeting.

New features in Note
“Send to Note” button in the annotation menu – allows sending a selected part of the image directly to the Note application. Thanks to it, the user no longer needs to save the notes file and then search for and open it in the note-taking software; everything happens with a single click, intuitively and quickly.
The feature has been introduced in models: Lite, Connect+, Business. An update for the Connect model is planned for December 2019.
Sending notes from the Note application via QR code on the same Wi-Fi network – by scanning the QR code, listeners can download all pages created in the Note application as a PDF file or each slide separately as an image.

Sending notes via email – thanks to this feature, the presenter can easily send created notes to all participants.

New features of screenshot tools
Screenshot tool with the ability to send the image via QR code on the same Wi-Fi network – allows selecting a part of the screen and saving it as a PNG file or creating a QR code, thanks to which participants of a meeting or lesson can quickly download and save it.

Ability to use the screenshot tool while using the annotation tool – allows selecting a part of the screen (content) that you want to transfer to the Note software.

New feature of the voting tool
Export voting tool results to an XLS file. The results contain all information about the answers, allowing you to analyze the voting after the lesson or meeting: time, question type, correct answer, and all participants’ answers.

New feature in the Finder application
Sending files from the Finder application via QR code on the same Wi-Fi network. Thanks to this feature, you can share important materials at any time during a meeting or lesson, which participants can download by scanning the QR code.

Eye protection mode
Eye protection mode – thanks to this feature, you can change the displayed colors to be more natural for the eye, thus reducing eye strain during prolonged monitor use.

“Unknown sources” in settings
The option to install from “unknown sources” has been moved from the service menu to standard Android settings. This allows the user to easily install applications themselves without any technical knowledge.

Android system lock
Ability to lock the Android system – this is one of the features that addresses the advanced needs of some users. Completely disabling the Android system will, of course, deprive the monitor of many functions, but it can be useful in situations where security is a priority, and the hardware is intended to be used solely for touch control of a computer.
The option is available in the service menu.
Initial monitor configuration
When turning on the monitor for the first time, the user will configure basic monitor settings such as: language, date and time, or monitor name.

New tools:
Split-screen
This allows two applications to be run simultaneously on a split screen. It is a very easy-to-use feature that allows a teacher to display a video and simultaneously note down the most important points derived from it.
The feature has been introduced in models: Connect+, Business. Updates for Lite and Connect models are planned for December 2019.
Quick cooperation with Windows Ink
An extremely useful tool built into the Windows 10 operating system and the latest versions of the Office suite, which allows for annotating documents. Compared to standard annotation with the built-in operating system tool, its advantages are: recognition of annotations as objects embedded in the document and the ability to edit them or even save them permanently in the file. Quick cooperation with Windows Ink means that the user does not have to manually select tools – a thin-tipped pen will automatically activate annotation, a thicker-tipped pen or finger will be detected as a mouse (e.g., for changing slides), and an applied hand as an eraser. There is no easier way for an active presentation.

The feature is available in the Connect+ model. In the Business model, it currently only works with Avtek OPS computers; an update enabling cooperation with external computers will be released in December 2019. The introduction of the feature to the Connect model is planned for December 2019.
If your monitor is missing any of these features, please perform an update. If the available update does not appear, please ensure the monitor is connected to the internet and check again.
