Casio proves that Laser&LED works without any problems even after 18,000 hours

At the Casio booth during this year’s ISE, visitors could find not only new products, but also an old XJ-A130 model that has logged over 18 thousand hours and is still going strong.

XJ-A130 is one of the first Casio projectors based on a Laser&LED light source. This model debuted in 2010, and the lifespan of Casio’s innovative light source was (and is) estimated at 20,000 hours. However, how can you prove this without laboratory conditions and specialized tests?

Well, Casio managed to buy back and display at the ISE trade fair a heavily used, yet still operational unit that had logged over 18,000 hours. It was never serviced, only regularly cleaned, and according to Casio technicians, it will easily surpass the 20,000-hour mark. The image displayed by this unit is still of high quality, and the loss of brightness was only noticeable when compared directly with an image from a projector of similar brightness.

Interestingly, however, Casio reports that the record holder for operating hours is located in Canada, and the hour meter shows over 23,000 hours!

As one can deduce, that mythical lifespan of the Laser&LED technology light source did not turn out to be just a marketing gimmick, but a fact! This is worth paying attention to when looking for a projector.
