Casio XJ-V1 – field test
Trzask.pl is a group of young, curious people eager to explore the world, who have been on dozens of exotic journeys. For over ten years, they have been creating multimedia photography shows, which they present to primary, middle, and high school students as part of their “Meetings with a Traveler” program. It was in these circumstances that they tested the Laser&LED Casio XJ-V1 projector. They rated the device as practically perfect.
Until now, we have used designs based on DLP and 3LCD technologies equipped with mercury lamps, so Laser&LED technology projectors are something new for us. This made it easier to notice the differences in usage

At first glance, the Casio is a lightweight yet solidly built projector. The casing does not bend or creak – it gives the impression of being durable. Several function buttons on the device and the included remote control allow for efficient, intuitive operation.

The biggest surprise was the time required to start the projector. From turning it on to reaching full brightness, it takes three, maybe four seconds. Compared to traditional solutions, which need 60-100 seconds for this, the Casio XJ-V1 is unrivaled.
The power of the light source (2700 ANSI Lumens) allows for operation even in bright rooms such as gymnasiums, etc. Equally important is the time required to turn off and cool down the projector. Here, the differences are even greater. While in standard DLP/3LCD devices you have to wait 2-3 minutes for the lamp to cool down, the Casio needs only a few seconds for this.
A very important criterion when choosing a projector is its lifespan and warranty, which lasts three years for the device and up to five years for the light source. Additionally, in the case of the Casio XJ-V1, the manufacturer declares that the light source operates for the majority of its projected 20,000-hour lifespan with constant brightness. With older technologies, travelers always experienced a glaring drop in image quality over time. This resulted in a forced lamp replacement after just 1000-1500 hours of operation. As a rule, it was also pointless, as the cost of purchasing a lamp was comparable to buying a new projector. The device is dust-resistant, which saves time and money on filter replacements. During operation, the Casio does not generate heat at all, does not overheat, and thanks to this, power consumption is about twice as low compared to older technologies.
