CPR Certified Cables – Why Choose Them?

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is a European Union regulation concerning installation cables, classifying cables based on their fire resistance. It aims to improve fire safety in buildings.

Why choose CPR certified cables?

In the event of a fire, the greatest danger is toxic smoke. Buildings are filled with cabling, so the risk of fire spreading is very high. To improve overall fire safety, installed cables must meet specific standards; new CPR cabling will be resistant to fire spread while minimizing the release of toxic gases.

What do the different classes mean?

Although CPR classes range from Aca to Fca, in reality, very few cables will achieve Aca and B1ca standards. In fact, only B2ca, Cca, Dca, and Eca cabling will be used in buildings. B2ca is the highest class, providing the best fire resistance, while Eca is the lowest class, providing limited fire resistance.

Euroclasses are the classes of CPR cabling, and each of these classes has its specific requirements according to which the cabling must be tested. The Euroclass table shows each class along with its specific fire resistance properties.
