Joan 9.7″ – a new dimension of booking systems
Joan room booking systems have already settled into the Polish market. The idea of completely wireless systems that clearly inform about room occupancy has been very well received, especially in modern offices equipped with glass partition walls. Following this success, the manufacturer of Joan, Visionect, is introducing a new model to its offer – the Joan 9.7″ Limited Edition.
A 6-inch touch solution that can be mounted on any surface right at the entrance to a room solves many problems when looking for a meeting place. While gathering information about this solution, however, we heard many opinions that clearly made us realize that in some situations the current screen is simply too small. As a reliable partner of Visionect, we passed on your feedback, and today we are reaping the rewards.

OK, the screen is bigger, but what else has changed?
The new model also brings several other changes, the most important of which you can read about below.
- Longer battery life on a single charge
The 9.7-inch version can work for up to half a year on a single charge! Larger dimensions allowed the manufacturer to use a larger battery (10200 mAh!), making the new Joan even more maintenance-free. Of course, the final operating time may change due to Wi-Fi range (inside we have a passive module that consumes less energy the better the range) or frequency of use. However, turning off the touch screen has no effect, because…
- Joan 9.7″ does not have a touch screen
In the new model, we will not be able to book a meeting from the panel hanging by the room. This decision met with mixed reactions from us, but Visionect argues that the priority was to achieve long battery life and keep the price point low.
- More information on the screen
Logical. A larger display area means the ability to pack in more information. This is the case here as well, as the new model displays not only the current and next meeting, but also 3 subsequent items, including those from the following days.
Apart from the changes, we are dealing with the same technological background as in the case of its smaller sister. The device itself is a so-called thin client, which communicates with the server and displays images generated on it. The display technology is energy-efficient E-ink. Wi-Fi is based on a passive module guaranteeing low power consumption. Details below.

When will it be available?
We are currently testing the Joan 9.7″ and helping the manufacturer polish the user interface, but this product should debut in the next ViDiS ProAV price list. Physical availability is early April. A demo unit will also be available for your tests and presentations.
